Unlocking Sustainability: How Our Waste Stream Audits Transform Business Efficiency

At Quincy Recycle, we’ve spent nearly 50 years helping manufacturers and large facilities turn waste from a cost center into something closer to an opportunity.

One of the most eye-opening services we offer – and the one clients keep thanking us for – is our waste stream audit.

It usually starts with a simple question from a plant manager or sustainability lead: “Why are our waste costs going up every year, even when production is flat?”

The honest answer? Most companies have no idea what’s actually leaving their building in dumpsters.

What a Waste Stream Audit Actually Looks Like

We go onsite for an in depth walking tour, inspection, and evaluation (minimal disruption, we promise). We pull representative samples from your trash, recycling, and cardboard streams, then we review receiving reports from waste haulers and other vendors. You end up with a clear snapshot:

  • We work toward understanding what percentage of your waste is recyclable or reusable
  • Which materials have market value that you’re currently paying to throw away
  • Where contamination is happening, that’s dragging down (or outright killing) your recycling program
  • Simple process tweaks that deliver the fastest cost savings and possibly generate revenue

When it’s done, we may ask additional questions and discuss known problems, and identify unknown problems.  We generate ideas or changes that could assist in cost savings, help achieve greater landfill diversion, and could generate additional revenue.

Why This Matters Right Now

Landfill rates keep climbing. Scope 3 reporting is becoming non-negotiable. Corporate zero-waste goals aren’t going away. More often than not, the biggest sustainability wins and the biggest cost savings come from the changes we can help you facilitate.

It Doesn’t Have To Be Complicated

We’re here to show you, in plain dollars and cents, what’s possible when you treat waste less like garbage and more like a resource that just hasn’t found its next home yet.

If you’ve ever stared at a waste invoice and thought, “There has to be a better way,” you’re probably right.

A waste stream audit is the fastest, lowest-risk way to find out.
